The Destantis project in Smithtown, Suffolk County is a testament to what's possible when a homeowner commits fully to a comprehensive outdoor transformation. The clients came to us with a clear vision: they wanted their backyard to feel like a five-star resort — a space where they could relax by the pool, cook and entertain outdoors, and enjoy the Long Island summer to its fullest. The result is a stunning combination of a resort-style pool, elegant travertine patio, custom outdoor kitchen, and lush professional landscaping that has completely transformed how the family uses their outdoor space.

The Challenge

The Smithtown property had an existing concrete patio that was cracked and dated, an old above-ground pool that needed to be removed, and landscaping that provided no visual interest or privacy. The clients wanted a complete transformation that would significantly increase the property's value and livability.

Our Solution

We removed the existing above-ground pool and concrete patio entirely, then designed a custom in-ground gunite pool with a tanning ledge and integrated spa. The patio was rebuilt using large-format travertine pavers that provide a clean, luxurious look. A fully equipped outdoor kitchen with built-in grill, refrigerator, and bar seating was integrated into a custom masonry structure, and the landscaping was completely redesigned with privacy plantings and accent trees.

The Result

The Destantis project transformed a dated, underutilized backyard into one of the most impressive outdoor living spaces in the Smithtown area. The clients report that they now spend the majority of their summer outdoors, and the outdoor kitchen has become the center of their entertaining life. The project was completed on schedule and within budget.
