The Garrett project in Dix Hills demonstrates the transformative power of professional landscape design and masonry work even without a pool. The clients wanted to create a private, park-like backyard that would serve as their personal retreat — a place for quiet evenings, family gatherings, and entertaining. The result is a sweeping landscape transformation featuring lush garden beds, natural stone patios, a custom fire pit seating area, and mature plantings that create a sense of established, private sanctuary.

The Challenge

The Dix Hills property had a large, open backyard with minimal landscaping, no defined outdoor living areas, and no privacy from neighboring properties. The clients wanted a space that felt established and private, with a clear focal point for outdoor entertaining.

Our Solution

We designed a comprehensive landscape plan centered around a custom natural stone patio and fire pit seating area. The fire pit serves as the visual and functional anchor of the space, surrounded by a custom bluestone patio and built-in seating walls. Privacy was achieved through a combination of arborvitae screens, specimen trees, and layered planting beds. A winding stone path connects the different areas of the garden and creates a sense of discovery.

The Result

The Garrett landscape transformation created exactly the private sanctuary the clients envisioned. The fire pit area has become the family's primary outdoor gathering spot, and the mature plantings have established quickly to provide the privacy and visual interest the clients desired. The project has been widely admired by neighbors and has inspired several referrals.
